Drivewear lenses
New DriveWear™ lenses, as their name suggests, are designed specifically for driving. They combine a polarised filter with photochromatic transition technology to improve your vision across the wide range of conditions encountered in driving.
Ok, here's the technology bit
DriveWear brings together two leading lens technologies, NuPolar polarisation and Transitions Photochromic Materials, to create an entirely new category of lens.
Although standard polarised lenses do a good job of blocking glare, most are too dark to meet the range of conditions encountered in driving; and while traditional photochromic lenses have worked well for people moving between outdoors and indoors, they do not darken significantly behind the windshield of a car (since the windshield blocks the ultraviolet (UV) light that activates the photochromic material).
Nor did the photochromic lenses offer polarisation, which is the only way to block blinding glare.
How they help your eyes
DriveWear lenses are designed to turn three different colours, as the react to varying light conditions both outside and inside the car, to give you the best possible vision in all conditions.

 |
Overcast, low light conditions Yellow-green lens colour
The high efficiency polarised filter is yellow-green in colour to provide maximum contrast in low light conditions. This colour is engineered to maximise the transmission of useful light to the eye while providing glare protection when needed. |

|
Daylight driving conditions Copper lens colour
Increased ambient visible light causes DriveWear to darken to a copper colour. This is designed to remove both the excess light and to provide good traffic signal recognition, by highlighting the reds and greens. Polarisation removes the glare. |

Bright outside light conditions Dark reddish-brown lens colour
In bright outdoor conditions, the DriveWear lens turns a deep dark brown colour. This colour is selected for maximum filtration of excess light. In this state, the lens performs like a high quality dark polariser to provide maximum protection from bright light and blinding glare.
