Progressive lenses
Progressive lenses are sometimes referred to as 'no-line bifocals', as they provide vision correction for both near and distance, but in a single lens.
Ok, here's the technology bit
Progressive lenses provide more than just near and distance correction in one lens. They actually provide a smooth transition from distance through intermediate to near, with all the corrections in between. This smooth progression is achieved by having a number of curves present in the lens that are 'blended' together.
How they help your eyes
You don't need additional pairs of glasses, as reading glasses and corrective lenses are combined with one set of progressive lenses. This means you can look up to see in the distance, look ahead to see things like your computer in the intermediate area, and look down to read close up comfortably.
